Save The People: A Year of Impact – Advancing Education, Civic Engagement, and Youth Empowerment

In the past year, Save The People has made significant strides in fostering education, strengthening civic engagement, and empowering youth. Our mission remains rooted in creating meaningful change by addressing societal challenges through sustainable programs. This blog highlights our key accomplishments from the last year, reflecting our unwavering commitment to building a better future.

Education: Creating Pathways to Knowledge

Education remains a fundamental pillar of our work. Over the past year, we have expanded our educational initiatives, ensuring that underserved communities have access to quality learning opportunities.

Supporting Darul Uloom and Elhaam Academy

Save The People has played a critical role in supporting Darul Uloom NY and Elhaam Academy by providing essential resources to students and teachers. Our contributions include:

Daily Hot Meals: We provide over 1,120 meals weekly at Darul Uloom and over 1,400 meals monthly at Elhaam Academy, ensuring students receive nutritious food to support their learning.

Scholarships & Financial Assistance: Over 100 students at Darul Uloom and 10+ students at Elhaam Academy benefited from scholarships and zakat funds.

Educational Resources: We have supplied books, learning materials, and technological support to help students excel in their studies.

Expanding Online and Hybrid Learning

Recognizing the importance of digital education, Save The People has facilitated hybrid learning opportunities, particularly for students in underserved areas. At Elhaam Academy, over 312 virtual students accessed quality education, bridging the gap for those unable to attend in person.

Civic Engagement: Strengthening Community Participation

Civic engagement is essential for fostering a strong, informed, and active community. Last year, Save The People played a pivotal role in enhancing civic participation through various programs and initiatives.

Breaking Bread, Building Bonds Initiative

We successfully conducted our Breaking Bread, Building Bonds event in collaboration with the NYC Mayor’s Community Affairs Unit. This initiative brought together diverse communities to discuss pressing social issues and foster unity through meaningful conversations.

Community Leadership and Advocacy

Throughout the year, Save The People actively engaged with local and national leaders to advocate for policies that benefit marginalized communities. Our work included:

Hosting meetings with elected officials to address food security, education, and youth empowerment.

Collaborating with organizations like Islamic Relief USA and Met Council to strengthen advocacy efforts.

Supporting interfaith dialogues to promote mutual understanding and tolerance.

Pre-Ramadan Food Distribution & Ongoing Bi-Monthly Food Distribution

Our civic engagement efforts extended to addressing food insecurity. Through the Pre-Ramadan Food Distribution 2025, we provided essential groceries to families in need. We ensured the participation of local officials, including council members, senators, assembly members, and congresswomen.

In addition, Save The People conducts bi-monthly food distributions to support the community, ensuring that struggling families, individuals, and the elderly have access to nutritious food year-round.

Youth Programs: Empowering the Next Generation

Save The People believes that investing in youth is key to building a brighter future. Our youth programs focus on leadership development, skills training, and community service.

Youth Leadership Bootcamps

In collaboration with UMR Youth Engagement Initiatives, we are working towards launching a Project Management Professional (PMP) Boot Camp for senior students at Darul Uloom. This program will provide young leaders with essential management and leadership skills.

Hate to Hope Program

Our Hate to Hope initiative has played a crucial role in addressing bias, discrimination, and intolerance. Through workshops, storytelling, and mentorship, we have worked with youth to turn negative experiences into positive community actions.

Kids’ Fun Zone & Recreational Activities

To ensure holistic development, we organized multiple recreational activities under our Kids’ Fun Zone initiative. These events provided a safe and engaging space for children to learn, play, and grow in a supportive environment.
