Healthfirst Hosts Vibrant Eid al-Adha Celebration in Jamaica Queens

Jamaica, NY June 22, 2025 The spirit of Eid came alive as Healthfirst, in partnership with local organizations, hosted a joyful and family-friendly Eid al-Adha Celebration at Thomas A. Edison High School in Jamaica, Queens. The free event, held from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., drew hundreds of families from the diverse South Asian and Muslim communities of New York City.

Families enjoyed a variety of activities including Nasheed music, balloon artistry, toy giveaways, and health insurance information provided by Healthfirst representatives. The event was made possible through the leadership of Stephanie Wu, VP of Sales, and Miguel Centeno, VP of Community Engagement, who emphasized the importance of cultural inclusion and community wellness.

South Asian community leadership was strongly represented, with active participation from Uzair Sheikh, South Asian Director, and South Asian Managers MD Khan, Mahmudul Haque, Shifat Bakth, and Fatima Mehwash, who greeted attendees and helped facilitate services.

Atif Ur Rehman, Community Engagement Manager at Healthfirst, coordinated the event and expressed deep gratitude to all volunteers, families, and community organizations who helped make the event a success.

Partnering community organizers included Save the People, Young Muslims, ICNA NY, BHALO, Jamaica Muslim Center, and Smile of Life USA.

This celebration showcased not only the beauty of Eid traditions but also the power of community collaboration in supporting health, culture, and unity.
