Save the People is a community-driven nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting under served communities through compassion, action, and partnership.
We focus on educational support, youth empowerment, food distribution, and community engagement initiatives that strengthen families and build opportunity.
From mentorship programs and anti-bullying campaigns like Hate to Hope, to pantry support and civic engagement events, we work to create meaningful impact at the grassroots level.
Guided by service, unity, and purpose, Save the People brings together volunteers, leaders, and partners to turn challenges into hope and hope into action.

Assemblyman David Weprin Visit to After School Program
Assemblyman David Weprin and his team visited Save the People’s office to learn more about our programs and community impact.
They also discovered our close partnership with Elhaam Academy, where together we work to support education, youth development, and stronger community connections.

Students Meet Executive Director Vijah from the Office for the Prevention of Hate Crimes
Executive Director Vijah and his team captivated the students with an engaging and interactive session, guiding them through meaningful conversations about bias, hate crimes, and the importance of standing against discrimination.
Their thoughtful approach kept the students involved while deepening their understanding of how awareness and action can create safer, more inclusive communities.
The event concluded with lunch and ice cream, and Save the People looks forward to continuing this valuable partnership and creating even greater impact together.

College Prep & Higher Education Workshop
The College Prep & Higher Education Workshop at 15015 Hillside Avenue, Jamaica, NY was a wonderful success.
WUST and Save The People were honored to co-host an empowering and informative session that brought together students, parents, and community members committed to building brighter academic futures.
We are grateful to everyone who attended, asked thoughtful questions, and showed up with hope, curiosity, and ambition.
Together, we are opening doors to higher education and creating pathways to success for our youth.

Mental Wellness Workshop at Darul Uloom NY
Over 120 community members joined the Community Mental Wellness and Resilience Workshop on July 16, organized by Save The People USA, Human Concern USA, and NYC Health.
Led by Mamun Rahman from DOHMH, the session tackled anxiety, depression, and mental health stigma through interactive discussions, real-life data, and practical tools for emotional resilience.

Youth Talk for Public Safety & Safer Neighborhoods
Youth, community leaders, and partners came together for an impactful discussion focused on building safer neighborhoods.
The energy, ideas, and commitment shown by young leaders proved that when youth voices are heard, real change begins.
Together with community partners, Save the People continues working toward a safer and stronger New York.

Faith, Fellowship, and Forward Thinking
In a meaningful display of unity, scholarship, and brotherhood, Darul Uloom New York, in collaboration with Save The People USA, hosted a transformative Imam Retreat from July 18–20, 2025, at the Schiff Scout Reservation in Wading River, NY.

Organized under the theme “Reunite, Reconnect, Rejoice,” the weekend brought together imams, scholars, and alumni from multiple states for three days of reflection, peer learning, and spiritual renewal.
Led by President Sardar Barkatullah, Resident Scholar Professor Ibad Wali, and Professor Jafar, the retreat focused on strengthening Islamic leadership in the 21st century.
A central feature of the retreat was the workshop titled “The Alim in the 21st Century,” which explored the evolving role of imams in modern society.
The session “Beyond the Mihrab and Minbar” highlighted how Islamic education continues to guide professionals in medicine, counseling, education, and technology.

Making a Difference Together
The Zakat Foundation of America played a major role in supporting the Back-to-School Bash at Elhaam Academy in Jamaica, NY.
Hosted by Save the People USA in collaboration with the Zakat Foundation, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr., and Elhaam Academy, the event brought families, students, and community leaders together to celebrate the new academic year.
Backpacks filled with essential school supplies brought joy to children and relief to parents across the community.

After-School Program

Save the People continues its commitment to empowering youth in the community.
The organization proudly supports after-school programs at Darul Uloom New York and several other schools across Queens.
These programs provide students with academic support, mentorship, and a safe environment where they can grow and succeed.
Together, we are building stronger futures for our children.
Around the World in NYC
On February 16, 2026, youth gathered in New York City for an unforgettable cultural journey — Around the World in NYC.
This culturally interactive experience empowered NYC youth to explore global cultures represented throughout the city while standing united against hate and bias.
Muslims, Christians, Jews, Sikhs, and community leaders came together side by side to uplift young people and celebrate diversity.

Queens Youth Night 2026
Queens Youth Night 2026 was a huge success.
Hosted by STPUSA, JMC, Elhaam Academy, MUSCARE, QICC, and JICC, the event brought together more than 130 youth from across the community.

Participants enjoyed fun games, meaningful conversations, delicious food, and motivational talks in an atmosphere filled with positivity and strong community spirit.
The event created valuable opportunities for young people to connect, learn, and grow together.
Building Future Leaders Through Internship Program

More than 40 volunteers — including youth, families, and community leaders — worked together to make neighborhood parks cleaner, greener, and more welcoming for everyone.
Community leaders and volunteers played an important role in making the initiative successful and impactful.

Community Clean-Up Success at Captain Tilly Park
Save The People partnered with NYC Parks, Jamaica Hill Community Association, Partnership for Captain Tilly Park, JMC Youth, and Bangladesh Friends Society NY to organize a successful community clean-up initiative.
Together, the organizations demonstrated how unity and teamwork create lasting community impact.

Connecting with Neighbors

Save The People youth volunteers joined the Civic Engagement Commission during election season to connect with local neighbors.
Volunteers spoke Bengali in the Bronx and Urdu in Queens, helping communities stay informed, connected, and engaged.
PMP BOOTCAMP

Over 100 young professionals, educators, business owners, faith leaders, college students, and high school seniors participated in the UMR Presents PMP Bootcamp organized by Save The People.
The training event focused on preparing participants for Project Management Professional (PMP) certification while helping build valuable career skills and industry-standard project management knowledge.
Voices for Global Change Rise in D.C.

More than one hundred citizen advocates from across the country gathered in Washington, D.C. for the United Nations Association of the USA (UNA-USA) Advocacy Summit held on June 23–24, 2025.
The summit brought together students, professionals, grassroots leaders, and diplomats for policy training, global dialogue, and meetings with congressional offices.
The event focused on strengthening support for the United Nations and promoting global cooperation.
