EDUCATIONAL IMPACT

Assemblyman David Weprin visit to after school program

Assemblyman David Weprin and his team visited Save the People‘s office to learn more about our programs and community impact. They also discovered our close partnership with Elhaam Academy, where together we work to support education, youth development, and stronger community connections.

Students learn about Turkey’s culture, language, and history in engaging discussions

In an exciting cultural exchange, students from Elhaam Academy recently visited the Turkish House in New York, where they had the rare opportunity to meet M. Ahmet YAZAL, the Ambassador and Consul
General of Turkey. The event, filled with insightful discussions and exchanges, allowed the students to learn more about Turkey’s history, culture, and its global significance.

Elhaam Academy’s Inspiring Trip to the United Nations

In a memorable educational experience, Elhaam Academy students visited the United Nations Headquarters in New York City, where they celebrated the UN’s 80th Anniversary and delved into the principles of global cooperation and peace building.
This immersive field trip offered students a unique opportunity to learn about the UN’s mission and its work in solving critical global challenges.

Save the People continues its commitment to empowering youth in our community.
We are honored to support after-school programs at Darul Uloom New York and several other schools across Queens.
These programs provide students with academic support, mentorship, and a safe, nurturing environment to grow. Together, we are building stronger futures for our children.

Elhaam Academy’s Inspiring Trip to the United Nations

Elhaam Academy students explored the SDG Corner, where they learned about the Sustainable Development Goals and how young people can help create a better world.
The students also received certificates recognizing their participation and enjoyed a fun, engaging day filled with curiosity, discovery, and inspiration as they connected classroom learning to global action.

Hands of Hope Afterschool, held at Elhaam Academy!

Hands of Hope is a community-driven program designed to inspire young minds through art, learning, and service. Each week, students will explore values of kindness, peace, and giving back while engaging in fun and creative activities.

Elhaam Academy, in association with Save the People, hosted “SDG’s ABCD with Kids” – a fun and interactive way to introduce children to the Sustainable Development Goals.
Through games, activities, and creative learning, our young change makers explored how small actions can make a big difference for a better world.

Queens Students Connect with NASA Astronaut in Historic Live Call

In a rare and awe-inspiring moment, dozens of Queens students reached across the cosmos to speak directly with NASA Astronaut Dr. Jonny Kim, who is currently aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
Organized by U.S. Representative Grace Meng (D-Queens), (Supported by Save The people for Elhaam Academy) the live Earth-to-space video call took place on Friday, July 18, 2025, at the New York Hall of Science in Flushing Meadows Corona Park.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Our Back-to-School Bash at Elhaam Academy was a huge success!
We were blessed to welcome students, families, and community members as we celebrated the start of a new school year with joy, unity, and purpose.
Special thanks to Save the People, Zakat Foundation of America, and Queens Borough President Donovan Richards Jr. for their incredible support.
From backpack giveaways to community connections, it was truly an inspiring day! Together, we are building brighter futures for our children.

Celebrating World Space Week

Students had an unforgettable out-of-this-world experience as we celebrated World Space Week organized by Save The people at Elhaam Academy!

Each child designed their own rocket scene on a paper plate, showcasing incredible creativity and imagination. With the moon projector lighting up the room, they proudly held their rockets high as if they were soaring straight to the moon. We added fun space props for photos, and the excitement on their faces said it all. It truly felt like we took a journey to outer space together!

Prepare the next generation of certified Project Management Professionals (PMP)

Over 100 young professionals, educators, small business owners, faith leaders, college students, and high school seniors participated in the UMR Presents PMP Bootcamp organized by Savte The People-a dynamic training event designed to prepare the next generation of certified Project Management Professionals (PMP).
The bootcamp was proudly co-hosted by Save the People, aiming to empower community members with valuable career-building skills and industry-standard project management knowledge.

Nature Meets Nurture: Elhaam Academy’s Outdoor Learning Adventure

Elhaam Academy students enjoyed a meaningful park field trip on July 17, 2025, blending science, vocabulary, and empathy through real-world observation and play. From spotting turtles and birds to asking imaginative and thoughtful questions, the experience brought nature-based learning to life while nurturing responsibility and care for the environment.

Language Learning Program: A Great Success!

Save The People, in collaboration with the NYC Civic Engagement Commission (CEC) and The People’s Money, is delighted to share the success of our Language Learning Program at Darus Salam Mashjid.

Empowering Families and Youth at NYC Summer Streets

Save the People USA brought energy and purpose to the NYC DOT Summer Streets 2025, transforming its stall into a hub of learning, fun, and community connection. With activities for children, resources for families, and awareness campaigns on health and peace-building, the organization inspired hundreds of visitors and highlighted its mission of unity and service.

Elhaam Academy’s young students embark on a nature-filled adventure

In a delightful blend of education and exploration, Elhaam Academy students from Grades K-2 spent a memorable day organized by Save The People at the Queens Zoo, where curiosity met nature in its most exciting form. The visit, part of the ongoing effort to make learning interactive and engaging, offered the young explorers an opportunity to connect classroom lessons with real-life experiences.

It was one of those days that remind us why learning beyond the classroom is so special. Students from Elhaam Academy spent the day organized by Save The People at the Museum of Natural History, exploring everything from ancient fossils to the wonders of space. They asked thoughtful questions, shared their excitement with friends, and left with smiles that reflected their joy of discovery. We’re so proud of their curiosity and the wonderful way they represented the school.
