Thanksgiving Gratitude & $165K Funding to Support Local Food Pantries in Southeast Queens

Dear Neighbors,

November Recap & Giving Thanks!

This Thanksgiving season, I want to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you in the 27th Council District. It is truly the privilege of my life to serve as your Council Member, and I am constantly inspired by the strength, resilience, and kindness that define our community.

Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on the blessings we share and the bonds that unite us. Here in Southeast Queens, we know the power of community—how we lift each other up, stand together in times of challenge, and celebrate one another’s victories. That spirit of togetherness is what makes our district so special, and I am endlessly grateful to be a part of it.

As we gathered around our tables this year, I hope we not only gave thanks but also recommitted ourselves to the values that make us who we are: compassion, hard work, and an unwavering belief in the potential of our neighbors.

From my family to yours, have a safe, joyful, and love-filled Thanksgiving.

Yours in service,

Dr. Nantasha Williams

District 27 New York City Council

Additional Funding for our Food Pantries

I was honored to host a check ceremony at Mt. Moriah AME Church’s Food Pantry, joined by representatives from 14 local food pantries that will receive nearly $165,000 in supplemental funding from the NYC Council this year. This increase from last year’s $100,000 reflects the rising need in our community as families face new challenges, including the migrant crisis. I’m committed to supporting our pantries as they work tirelessly to provide food security for our neighbors. Thank you to all the dedicated staff and volunteers who make this crucial work possible—together, we’re building a stronger, more resilient community.
